Having taken my cab roof lining out I noticed this ribbon and connector coming from my windscreen. Is this an fm aerial do you think? I know my fm aerial is in my mirrors as I’ve seen it when I swapped them out for Touran mirrors. Since then I haven’t bothered with radio as I don’t want to drill my roof. Could this be a windscreen aerial that just isn’t being used? I can see a line in the glass and this wire is coming from directly where that is?

Yes, an aerial.
Perhaps you've had a replacement windscreen, and they've used a pre facelift one, and tucked the ribbon out of sight?

It looks like the original screen, no signs of it having been removed but it was 3 years old when I got it so it's possible.

Do you think I'd be able to get a wire to connect it to my head unit and use it?

Is that a part I could buy from VW/tps? Or is it part of the loom and wouldn't be available to buy separately?

Isn’t that the aerial for the DAB?? I have the same on mine. Try connecting it to the DAB cable at the back of the head unit.

If your aerial was in the mirror, the Dab aerial would be in the other mirror.

Don’t you have one of those Chinese apple play thingys. Your have to upgrade to DAB one. Better sound quality.
