Ah no way around it for me is too hit doors open on key fob brings them on. It might be something thats possible to fix with Vag com but i'm not an expert on what it can do

Re: Back doors dont trigger interior light?
I have the same problem, all the other doors trigger the lights but not the rear. Are we any closer to an answer on this one?
Am I right in thinking the switching has something to do with the locking mechanism in each door? If so, a fault with in the rear door lock as mentioned by "hedge".
Any one got a wiring diagram or know where one could be found? Tried the internet but no luck.

Re: Back doors dont trigger interior light?
The problem is from the fact that the rear doors are programmed in the Canbus as being a "trunk" which in the case of the Caddy Life or Touran wouldn't need to activate the cabin lights. I think a link between both the roof and side/rear interior light is needed to bring all the lights on upon opening the rear door.
Maybe something that VW should be asked about, can't see them providing a program fix for it though.

Re: Back doors dont trigger interior light?
Thanks Doc, when you think about it make sence to VAG at least
if not us owners!
I'm at a disadvantage as when the van was lined the ceiling and side lights (the one behind the passenger side door) were removed, so would I be right in thinking these would come on with the back door, like opening the trunk in the Touran? Or would these lights be connected to the other interior lights switching on via the other doors (no switching function in the rear box at all)?
If they are connected to the rear door would it be posible to run a cable from the back door (switch in the lock?) to the trigger wire on say the side door, fooling the system into thinking the side door is open and switching all the rear light in the normal way? I'm no an auto electrician but do any of you guys think something like this could work? If so what wires to connect on to? A wiring diagram would be helpful.
Any thoughts?
Andy

Re: Back doors dont trigger interior light?
does your smaller door trigger the light at the rear ? my small door does my bigger door dont but fault code reader showed up a fault with rear door mechanism
would it therefore be possible to take a switched supply from the small door ?

Re: Back doors dont trigger interior light?
Thats interesting, I'll try that tomorrow. Does it light all the interior lights?Liam wrote:does your smaller door trigger the light at the rear ? my small door does my bigger door dont but fault code reader showed up a fault with rear door mechanism

You also have a fault reading like Hedge. I wonder if this is what Doc said about the system not recognizing the rear door or is it a fault? Either way it does seem odd that a lot of people have the same problem.
Correct me if I'm wrong but if your small door triggers the lights the system is recognizing it and triggering the lights , making an addition cable unnecessary but why is the big door not picked up?

Re: Back doors dont trigger interior light?
no the small door only sets off the tiny light along the side similar to one in the boot of a car so whats been said about the trunk sounds right
