MK 5 SOS button

Post by John M »

Had an update from VW for the van and now I have the dreaded "SOS call button restricted" VW dont seem to care tbf and the local main stealer just wants money. Anyone had this and is there a work around ? apparentley the software update makes a false flag that the reserve battery is dead, which it isnt and if it was its behind the dash im told.

Get the sos module scanned first and foremost john.
Had a fault in my now t6.1 transporter and it was a damaged gps module. Short to ground.
The sos system has quite a few parts to the system that are monitored.

Yes could be battery, yes could be software. But without proper diagnosis you will just be guessing.

Get obdeleven pro dongle and do the scanning yourself and hopefully repair without going down the dealership route, unless you have warranty.

Good luck
