Not having seen anyone do this, and very little even discussing the idea, I got a hold of a mk4 gear surround and attempted a worlds first* by fitting the mk4 gear surround below a mk3 dashboard.
After a lot of cutting and plastic welding I've got it to fit nicely but still waiting on the coin tray to complete it and then cover it all in suede to match. I'll likely start a thread with more detail in the interior mods section once that's done.
*may not be a worlds first but I couldn't find anything (Update: I have now found someone who has done this on the forum back in 2019 but still not a common mod by any means)

Quick addition over the weekend to test out how well the vinyl from my sun visors works with trim fix. Wanted something to stop my air freshener rolling around the dash so cut out a panel to fill the dash storage with a hole for the tin to sit in and wrapped it. Holds very tight pushed into the dashboard so I've no worries about the whole piece flying out

Be4ny, would you by any chance still have the link to the plastic-textured wrap you used? It looks very similar to the actual dash, I like it
Never really planned to mod my Caddy until I found this forum
Having tried a few locations and switches from other models for moving the hazard switch I think I've finally settled on the best option and it's exactly where I started in the first place. Used a hazard switch from a polo 6C which looked to be the same size as the auto stop switch from the mk4 caddy and had a very similar button shape profile. Well I was half right. The actual connector and part that clips into the trim is identical but the actual button face was about 0.5mm bigger all round and sat flatter, with a bit of sanding and some filling behind the button to angle it to match the others I reckon this is the one. A little bit of fettling still needed to get it spot on but it's looking good

I'm also looking for some switches, just today put some red led push switches in but since seeing some of the OEM looking ones on Ali express I would much prefer them.... Just trying to find some that won't look out of place
One hazard switch all filed down, adjusted to fit as best as possible, and wired in. Conveniently all the same pins and coloured wires so that was easy to do. Next step is to fill in the old switch hole and cover the dash

The latest caddy projects haven't been all that exciting just servicing including timing belt, water pump, and all the boring stuff that we must do to keep our vans running but in between I have been sourcing bits to fit a PTC heater and over the weekend I got it all fitted. I haven't got any photos of this because it isn't that exciting but as I had the light switch panel out I decided to pull the trigger on a little project I'd been putting off for a while. This is a mk7 golf light switch and trim hacked about and made to fit into the caddy panel with the headlight adjusters and interior light level switches hidden. The golf switch has been gutted and the caddy light switch electrics installed as it doesn't operate the lights correctly and the caddy switch sits at a jaunty angle in the golf trim. Also I like the look of the new switch more. Recovered and installed the panel, now I've just got to finish blanking the hole in the golf light switch trim and paint it

Yes, it's a 4 way stretch vinyl. Have used it on my glove box too, has a really nice feel to it and easy to work with. Feel free to have a crack at it!
