Injector replacement options

Post by northflash »

Have just had an injector go on my caddy after 5 years of ownership. Pretty good I reckon all things considered but still the price of a new one makes me wanna sell up.

Anyone had any luck with refurbished ones? Interested to hear if of people experiences good or bad.

And is it really as difficult to code in new injectors as the horror stories I’ve heard? Won’t my local garage be able to swap the old one out for the replacement?

Finally, I read that sometimes just changing the harness clip can sole the issue. Any experience with that?

For reference my van is a 2011 1.6TDi with 150k on the clock. Never had an injector go to my knowledge.

Also I forget the code number but it was “Injector 2 open circuit” or something along those lines.

Tia!

I fitted a refurbished injector a couple of years ago and had no problems i hope i haven't jinxed myself by saying it
I also coded it in myself which was easier than I thought but buying 1 injector and the VCDs was cheaper than sending it to a garage so if you're mechanically minded and have the tools i d say do it yourself and don't forget new stretch bolts for the clamps
