My blue caddy build thread

Post by Handyandy »

Hi welcome to my build thread
I bought a 1.6tdi 63 plate with only 18000 miles on the clock back in 2017
The van was completely standard when bought and only had 75 horses so felt very under powered
I haven't got any pictures of when I first bought it but will try and get pictures as it will be very slowly modified so this thread will be a very slow burner
Andy

The first thing i bought for the van was a set of alloys I picked these up as a package deal with tyres and drove down to wheelbase in Oldham to have them fitted I went for the calibre suzuka 18" rim's with 225/45/18 budget tyres as money is always tight but to be fair the tyre's weren't bad at all Image

Cheers guys
@swan fiend it is about time it's been 4 years since I bought the van
The modifications I'd like to do to the van are
To get it lowered on coilovers and flip the rear axle and put alloys on when I bought the van that's all I wanted to do.
Now the plans are to get it remapped and turn the back of the van into a day van

Sounds like good plans there. I sometimes think about carpeting mine and doing a sort of day van thing, but I also use it for doing to the tip and putting my drums and MTBs in.

It’ll look great when it’s lowered mate. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

A lot of the jobs have been done I will document these as I find some pictures but hopefully more subtle modifications on the way
@giddy that's the problem were never happy with what we've got we always need something else so my wife tells me anyway
@sean my van will never compare to the beast you've got but it's something to work too I'm not saying I want a v6 in it or anything but if one came my way and I could afford it and someone fitted it who knows

@swan fiend this is what the back of the van looks like now it's been carpeted to a degree but I have got to put tools and materials in at the moment it's had a quick clean out and loaded up to meet the daughter and her boyfriend tomorrow at Delamere I've got to supply the bikes Image

The next job that was done on the van was a double din head unit with reversing camera I done all the threading of the cables and the daughters boyfriend wired it all up. I think the cabling was the easier part apart from going through from the van to the door. There was a few problems once connected as we found the camera wasn't working but that got replaced and everything was good the reverse camera fits in place of one of the number plate lights so looks quite tidy and neat to look at we also fitted a USB socket so that I could plug in a flash drive to play my music or a movie if I ever got chance and was sat still long enough
