LED lights MOT failure
Evening all. Being new to the forum I couldn’t find the answer to this query. So.....When upgrading the headlight bulbs from a regular dull yellow glow to a bright LED bulb, will it fail the MOT?

Re: LED lights MOT failure
In theory, yes.
LEDs are not technically legal for road use but MOT testers don't have the authority to check for the approval marking as that will involve taking the cover off your headlight.
Do long as the beam is good, there shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah I guessed it was all about the beam. I might just keep the original bulbs and re fit them, just in case. Unless there are bright non LED bulbs out there? Not seen any yet.

Re: LED lights MOT failure
As Doc said, as long as the beam pattern is good it shouldn't be an issue.
Mine failed last week for the above reason back to the halogen bulbs for now. Need to find a friendly MOT tester

Re: LED lights MOT failure
Have led headlights fitted in mine for years, never failed MOT yet, other than for alignment.
