Removing roof rails
Hi guys any tips from anyone whose removed the OE roof rail covers over the bolts?
Want to remove mine but don’t want to force the plastic covers in the wrong place & break them.
Mines a maxi life model.
Thanks

Re: Removing roof rails
Here's a photo of what one of the roof rail ends looks like underneath - which may help you place your trim tools. Gently lift from the sharp end and take care not to snap off the plastic tabs at the other.

Re: Removing roof rails
I removed mine to fit a roofrack and damaged them all but 2!! Used a screwdriver but wouldn't recommend!! Now got rid of roof rack and need to get hold of the covers again so I can put the rails back on,

Re: Removing roof rails
I used a flat screwdriver and pried the plastic cover straight up (at the end nearest to the roof).
You also need to get rid of the plastic cover for the middle.
There is a screw horisontally. It is an easy job as long as you open the plastic from correct side

Re: Removing roof rails
Handy info, are there no bolts under the "pilars" which have no cover?

Re: Removing roof rails
Good work...
Trust you managed to acquire the correct blanking bolts, they’re just over £1 each and have a rubber seal.

Re: Removing roof rails
Hello,
Thank you for this post, I managed to removed the front ones but do not know or find how to remove the 2 middle ones and the back one.
Any help or picture will be great.
I have the VW CADDY Haynes Workshop Manual, they do not cover this part
Thank you in advance for your help
Best Regards,
Didier

Re: Removing roof rails
Hi Mark, do you have the part numbers for the blanks? Had a look through your thread but couldn't see it.
Many thanks.

@Sag1 I used WHT-004-908 and for my 2017 Maxi Life, needed 8x.
