Speakers up front
Can anyone recommend replacement speakers for the front doors and dash? Also I don't have any speakers at all in the dash would the wires be there or do I need to install wires from headunit

Re: Speakers up front
Focal do a kit which is a straight plug in and go kit, really improves the sound, it’s around £120 I think for the side doors and tweeters!

Re: Speakers up front
I fitted some vibe speakers you will need ring adaptors as they are a deeper speaker, also came with a pair of tweeters and crossovers that fit straight into the tweeter location. You will need to wire these in but it's pretty simple to do
Black 2011 C20 1.6 tdi 100 bhp / remapped to 140ps, 18" 3sdm 0.01 alloys, Coilovers, Lower GTI splitter, Touran 5 seat conversion, Mk6 golf GTI red stitch flat bottom steering wheel, Touran centre console and armrest, TRC splitter Mk6 GTI.

Re: Speakers up front
Unfortunately sound deadening the door isn't quite as simple as taking the door card off. Once you get it off you'll see that there's a huge metal plate there which has the window mechanism, modules etc attached to it. This all needs to be removed to get to the inside of the door. Not a massive job but not as easy as just sticking some sound deadening pads straight in there.

Re: Speakers up front
Does the diameter of the speaker hole/mount on the door change over the years?
Focal IC165 VW which are listed on many sites for Caddy 2003 onwards don't fit a 2012, I've got a set that I'm returning. Speaker size is the same but the distance between the mounting holes differs original 195 vs focal 155.

Re: Speakers up front
I can recommend alpine sxe-2035s 8" 3way for the doors and they come with adapterrings but you have to cut away the plastic ring in the doorcard.
And in the dash i used alpine sxe-0825s 3,5" 2way to fit them you can cut away about 2-3 mm of the edge in the existing speaker hole to fit the new speaker.
I had to modify the speaker and cut away a metalclip on the side of the speaker and drilled new holes for the mounting screws.
I have seen other 3,5" speakers without the clip and better mounting ears.
I connected the dash speaker to the stereo on the rear speaker output so i can adjust the speakers front and rear.
A friend mounted 165mm jvc speakers (same size as original) the play good but compares to my van with dash and 8" door speaker it's like night and day difference in soundquality and it's a really good thud in the base in mine. All is driven by the original stereo rcd310
Well my english isn't the best, hope you can understand.

Re: Speakers up front
Have been looking at them, they look pretty good. Think I can manage them sort of mods, was it easy enough to route wires from dash speakers to headunit?

Re: Speakers up front
Well done Torpa. The best I've seen.
Did you have to modify the door at all or do the adapters just fit straight on?
And are the adapters supplied with the speakers or do they have to ordered separately?

Speaker upgrade is next on my shopping list.
Never done it before so the easier the fit the better for me.
