Fitted VMAXX after a problematic day

Post by MXjames »

I got these two weeks ago

Image

and these arrived yesterday

Image

So today i got to work attaching them but little did I know one 13 mm nut/bolt was going to make my day hell :-x
The nut on the shock mount was welded on and it poped off as i loosened the bolt

Looking from the top

Image

And the problem area, the nut is free to turn and access is zero

Image

Any way with some help from my girlfriend we decided to grind the head off as it was the only option

Image

after starting at eleven i just finished at nine ................

Image

BUT L@@K the front is complete

Image

I just took it for a short spin and the handling is much sharper and more pointy ... NIIICE.

Tomorrow i will be tackling the rear, this involves flipping the axel over the leaf spring and attaching new shocks and adjustable shackles.

So far I'm happy out.

I got them from Rob Brown @ http://www.autosoundblackpool.co.uk
A top guy helped me all they way and i'm greatfull for that. 8)

BE WARNED .. IF YOU DO WHAT I DONE TO ONE OF THE BOLTS AT THE REAR OF THE MOUNTS YOUR GOING TO HAVE A BAD DAY.

Well today was long but worth it, i went very slow and greased all the nut and bolts as i went.

I'm not 100% sure about the centering is correct

Image

I can fit a fist in the front at the back but at the rear i can't get my fist in the back .... if that makes sense.

And also I think the left rear wheel is turned in (toed)

Compaired to

Any way this is the end result which i am very happy with.

@ ScottDuffy the wheels are off an A4 that's all i know, do you like them.

Yeah they look alright, are they 16's? I'm after something to smarten mine up but it's a work van so I don't want big wheels...!

:D I do like a nice chunk of rubber on a wheel, I'm not a fan of big wheels and skinny tyres.
