Back doors dont trigger interior light?

ok was at a guys house last night and he was showing me his old caddy tdi 05 and i decided to check his rear lights for a laugh and they work on the big door ! well the little rear light triggers when u open the bigger of the 2 rear doors so im putting the problem down to the lock

You've proved the "big door" does operate the the truck light, so most likely a door lock fault. I removed the lining today to try and find the wiring for the truck light, found the connector but mine appears to be permanently live regardless of doors being open or closed! Too cold to play with wires and as it's causing no problem, just annoying I think this will have to wait to the spring!

Thats weird, seems to me that vw changed their minds each year about small little things. I checked my friends 2006 caddy front interior light and he can switch it on when drivibg and my 2007 caddy dont? Mayb mine is a faulty one?

Fixed my interoir light problem, turned out to be simple, the interoir carpeted panel on the small rear door was stopping the door from closing , not so as you would notice but enough the stop the switch from working. Plywood cut and re-carpeted problem solved and the light has been working properly for 3 weeks now.

Forgot to mention, now the indicators flash when the the van is locked as well, something it did not do before. One fix, two problems solved

funny you should say that, my van decided to stop flashing when i locked it but did when i unlocked it... took power off battery and back on and it sorted it but i wondered if its linked somehow to the door.. strange!

always annoys me when i open the rear door in the dark! Might have to finally check it out
