You should see the underside, I gave the spare wheel bracket a coat of paint and on the bottom of the chassis you can literally wipe off the dirt with your finger! It's like it was garaged every winter yet apparently it was a fleet vangazza31112 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 8:20 pm Looks like a good buy mate, it's so clean! Perfect base to work with!

Re: Another bike van build
An update from this weekend, Before I start doing all the fun/interesting mods I want to give it a deep clean (as best as I can), After having a look through my old cleaning gear from when I used to have nice shiny cars! and got to work. Off came the wheels and arch liners so I could see what kind of state things are underneath the dealers valeting....
Underneath the front whhel arch, back one looked pretty similar, not too bad really

So first step is to get the metalwork clean, if you're into detailing you'll probably be familiar with APC's which are usually pretty good at getting off general muck and grime but they can be a bit pricey . . . I've used this Tru-tension cleaner on my mountain bike for a few years and it's great at cleaning off thick dried mud and it's half the price of the Autoglym stuff (And you don't need to use anywhere near as much)

So on it goes, it's kind of thick and the nozzle on the bottle makes it foam so you can let it slowly run off like snowfoam

Then did the same to the actual body, left it for a bit then scrubbed it with a brush, rinse it off or wipe with a wet towel
and job done, (Still a bit dirty in the textured parts of the seam sealer but that's pretty good I'd say)

Awesome cheers and yeah good point on having the extraTransitionpilot wrote: I haven't measured properly yet but as a rough guess I'd say 8m at least. When I did my connect I used 4m to do the side and roof without the doors and the caddy is 50% bigger + doors as well and then maybe adding on an extra 1 or 2m to be safe. Having some spare is quite useful as you will always find a use for it.

Looks like it's in really good nick underneath! Nice attention to detail getting everything clean before diving into mods.
I found a nice cheap APC is the <£1 floor cleaner from the supermarket, might be a cost effective option for doing large areas.

Cheers, I didn't think of that! I've used all the autoglym up so I'll grab a bottle of that instead next time

Finished off all the wheel arches and liners over the last day or so. Once the arch liner was scrubbed I soaked it in Tar remover and let that sit for a few minutes

And while that was doing it's thing, I dried off the arch bodywork and waxed it up with good old Collinite which should help stop dirt from collecting behind the liner

Even gave the torx screws a tickle with some smooth hammerite while they were out

and then put everything back together and as a final touch, I gave the liner a good coat of Aerospace 303

rinse and repeat 3 more times and it's job done

More maintenance work being done over the last few days - well trying to make some progress between these annoying downpours!
Underneath seems to be very good condition with barely any rust anywhere so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a clean up and apply some underseal before I start driving it over the winter
It's that good underneath that I could have just wiped it all with a rag and some cleaner, but a soft wire brush on a drill was a bit quicker
Before pic

And after almost finished with the wire brushing, just a couple of nooks and crannies to get into

And then a coat of Waxoyl underseal on everywhere that doesn't have any factory stonechip stuff, leave it for 24hrs and it should be good to go

@transpilot
The key fob cover might be pricey (not really) but you'll know it's quality and will last when u buy from a reputable seller such as Vanstyle - they've already done the hard yards to get a suitable supplier and one the is a perfect fit
As for the barn door security panels, are they just held in place with 4x screws, never seen them removed before
As for the vibration on them, the sound deadening would be good but also prob just need to be packed out with some of the BnQ special recycled plastic insulation to "buffer" out the empty space (or do as extra !!)
Looks like it's coming along in great leaps
