Thought I’d do some test headlight builds from parts I’ve been gathering lately. More to follow

mikenorman looking good!. I was actually just looking online to try and find a pair of projector headlights for my van but I can only ever find the same dodgy looking pair made in China with DRL. Looks like my only hope is to also try and build a set if i can ever find the time and knowledge haha

@Oldgregg Iv used some eBay ones mate, they are basically the same as the Chinese ones tbf, make sure you get the RHD ones and they are pretty good quality, I brought a whole kit, with the projectors, ballasts, xenon bulbs, adaptors everything.
Such a pain to do though, never ever again Image
Happy with them now, maybe a tad more blingy than I was originally going for, but when youv got them open the ideas start coming ImageImageImage
Did need quite of bit of help with the wiring from @r1lea! Image

Yeh photos and shows id imagine. I’ve put them on the back burner for a bit until I can decide on what use I have for them, but thinking of making a show build using them and other parts.

I’ve gutted two headlights so I can test products before building now which is good. I’m also making extended looms to test builds before sending.

P:s Excuse the mess of the engine bay! A throughly neglected area on my van Image

I put a video in the ‘how to section’ of how to split a touran headlight in under 4 minutes if you’ve not seen. It may help in future, as I’d imagine the principle is the same with any headlight splitting process. It’s what they’ve used to bond them that would make the splitting different. I’ve split a set without any heat at all before....it was hard going but I was trying to work out whether heating is a necessity!

@mikenorman i managed it in the end mate, haven't got a heat gun, and the mk4s didn't fit in my oven haha so I used a dremel, ran it around the sealant, not perfect by any means but it worked ok for my needs

@gazza31112

Hi mate once the projectors are fitted have they also got the self leveling feature for MOT etc and are they easy enough to fit.

Many thanks

@Barrington I still have to see what the levels are like tonight when it gets dark I have to go find a wall to park up Infront of and see how flat the line is, no self leveling in them, they are adjusted as straight as I can by eye, still have the standard headlight adjusters that move my standard reflectors up and down which still work so I'm hoping fingers crossed that will be enough adjustment, MOT wise I'm still a year away so if worst comes to worst I'll pick up a second hand set for MOTs ImageImageImageImage
