Re: What did you do to your van today?
That’s interesting as the caddy I have recently bought has a reverse camera and this is exactly what mine shows when I stick it in reverse. I wasn’t sure if it was a coding or wiring issue but maybe it’s the head unitC Chis wrote:Today I discovered my 4 week old Head Unit is busted... reversing camera stopped working after a week, I assumed the camera was dead, however 2 replacement camera’s later... and still a black screen of death

Yeah, 99.99% sure it’s my HU. It was working perfectly then I ran the cables and installed the camera still all good, then nothing!!
I’ve tried 2 different camera’s and 2 different wiring looms, nothing’s working apart from the screen changing to the reverse screen and staying black,
The camera’s work, just not on my HU anymore.

Re: What did you do to your van today?
@ C Chris and Carparkingkeith it could also be an issue with the lock in your tailgate or barn doors. From what I have been told there can be an issue with a microswitch in the lock, think the switch tells the HU that the doors is closed and lets the rear view picture be shown. I had a similar situation with suddenly no rear view picture, the auto sparky checked it all over and said everything was fine so it was narrowed down to the lock. Hope this helps.

Re: What did you do to your van today?
So, did some more diagnostics today after advice from PaulC61 the switch in the bottom passenger side door was a little corroded so removed, cleaned and refitted and with the door open and the catch in the shut position all worked and worked perfectly!PaulC61 wrote:@ C Chris and Carparkingkeith it could also be an issue with the lock in your tailgate or barn doors. However... bolted it all up and it stopped working,
thought I’d trapped a wire so took it all to bits, nope, all wiring good! Then when moving the door I could hear the relay clicking on and off, turns out the door was only earthing in a couple of positions and not when the door was shut!!!
So ended up trialing a direct earth from the now redundant rear wiper connector, result, all up and working.

Connections all tidied up, scotch connector removed and better connection made then taped up and door card back on

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

What did you do to your van today?
Painted and fitted a lot of the bits I got over the last while.
Fitted the bumper spoiler, painted the lower grills to match them in a bit better. Painted the honeycomb grill (white) with behind the new black VW logo.
Painted and fitted the roof spoiler and painted the sill protector. Fitted a New rear black VW logo. Fitted and wired a set of new shape black rear lights as per the “How to”. There in a guy in Clare who makes my wife’s ass hot
(Stan), I’ll get him to code the lights correctly when thing are back to normal. Hopefully the TRC skirts will come next week to finish it all off.
I’m Really happy with the look now
Robbie.

Nice white car Boonalon.
I want rear upper spoiler too. You have in the plane painting of them? Or will black forever?

Cheers Matias, it came primed in grey, I reprimed and painted a gloss black. I bonded it on as I believe they are a pain to screw mount.

Finally got the exterior all back together

Spoiler and rail covers installed, grab handle, mirrors, and badges colour coded.
Just need to look at getting it lowered now.
