@Lamby00 sorry yo hear this. It’s certainly not normal and paint/lacquer should not flake off period. Painted the handles and side strips on all the vans ive had and they are still perfect on mine now ... sounds like poor prep to me and I would take them back buddy. Hope you get it sorted

@gazza31112 , sure, I’m having handbrake cover, sunvisors, centre console armrest and the door cards done for just under the £370 mark which I thought wasn’t too bad. Really excited now!

I split the door cards myself and gave him the little bits you rest your elbows on. They’re being recovered In leather and a nice white stitch along them to match the scirocco seats.

I replaced my drivers door loom bellows today. Wasn’t too bad a job to do, though I wasn’t looking forward to removing the pins on the connector. I also managed to sort an annoying rattle out, and get a pic of my dashcam I fitted the other week.

Hi,
Unfortunately those suction cups don't hold forever.
Choice 1. Use a tag line to the camera so that when it does dislodge, it does not fall to the floor or use some crystal double sided tape to keep it in place.
Choice 2. As I did on my install with a similar camera.
After some minor mods to the rear view mirror "goose neck" I was able to mount it back onto the windscreen upside down, thus enabling me to install the camera directly onto the ball joint.

@Lamby00
The side mouldings flaking are purely down to bad prep work. They should never do that, it’s not normal and you should take them back and ask for them to be done properly. Basically they’ve not bothered to key the surface of the edges before painting them. It’s just lazy prep work. The door handles look as though they’ve been burned through with a polishing machine.
@ViralEye
Your mouldings flaking are down to them originally being textured plastic, you can still see the texture. I feel as though I’m always banging on about it on here but that is a prime example of why it’s not the correct way to colour code bumpers and such like. Textured plastic need a whole lot of hard work to get them into a state where they’re truly ready to be painted and not many people are prepared to do that work.

@Barbel330 yep you can see in mine the edges haven't been sanded down enough and I feel the garage has rushed it a bit. Luckily all the rest of the work he did seems pretty spot on

@viraleye I seem to be in the same boat. Everything else is spot on but I will get it sorted with them

As always I totally agree with Stu @Barbel330 here in terms of poor prep and also how much work goes into smoothing textured plastic.... textured bumpers and side strips dont sand and just fur up which means a lot of work with high build primer etc to achieve a smooth finish.
@Lamby00 and @ViralEye im not sure looking at pics of your bits whether there might be some silicone reactions there too
