Aaand we are back! Went a bit quiet for a while as couldn't really see the point in logging in (access restrictions blablablah) - In between work/real life and making the most of this unreal summer to get out on my bike, I have been slowly ticking off jobs and will start catching up with posting the progress!

So, on to one of the main jobs that everyone has to do - and I don't think it's anywhere near as much fun as it looks when you watch some else do it on YT! the carpeting If you're reading through this before doing a van for the first time - DO IT SLOWLY! - It will take longer than you think
, If I remember right I went with Anthracite colour because I felt that full black colour would probably show up dirt etc a lot more.

Taped up all the holes with 2 layers of foil tape


Removed the bulkhead and taped some plastic dust sheet up to stop the glue overspray from getting into the front


Getting stuck in, a reet mess!


These little clamps from BQ were super useful to hold the big pieces in place and not get stuck to itself

Eventually getting through it, You can see a few wrinkles on the wheel arch, these will be covered up by the box though. I made the mistake of sticking the carpet into the recessed parts first which isn't the best way, it's better to hang the carpet and then stick down all the large/main parts and then use the stretch to work it into the small or tight parts....


Finally done, had to work out a few random wrinkles and make a cut in the corner of the barn door pillar/wheelarch section but happy with that in the end.

No probs! If you haven't bought the carpet yet have a look for Shieldautocare or VLT on ebay as they are much better prices than everyone else for the same stuff, and they do most colours in 2 different thicknesses/weights.

Next up was the roof panel, as I like to do the things the awkward/hard way I wanted to make the roof ply as 1 piece. Got a 5mm sheet and laid out the 2 original bits and the plastic strip together and traced around them, simple enough. Put some rivnuts in the original clip holes and then tried to hold up a 7ft long floppy sheet of ply with one hand while using the other hand to get the bolt into a hole I couldn't see was a bit of a faff, came up with a wway to hold the sheet up and free both hands though!

After a test fit, it got carpeted and the lights put in. I made a perfect wiring harness for the lights, nicely taped and with superseal connectors but found that it wouldn't pass through the gap behind the roof ribs so I had to cut the connectors off and use single bullet connectors for each wire, somewhere along the way I've connected them wrong and the lights don't switch to the permanent feed - after the faff to put the roof in, I'll have to wait until I'm in the right mood before taking that out again lol! Looks ok though, 2x Golf R interior lights and it's super bright inside.
