As per title, I pulled the complete cruise control stalks from a Touran 2009 along with clock spring and bottom module and replaced them all into my 2005 Caddy.
I noticed the caddy had an extra steering position module that the touran never had and google-foo says its because its part of the touran clock spring now. Also the steering module didnt have the pins to transfer the module anyways.
Anyhow, cruise seems to work in VCDS and I'm getting the signals from all the switches and clutch and brake pedal, but the van has a yellow steering wheel error now on the dash and I cannot get rid. Both through coding and various diagnostics.
Any ideas?
i THINK the van is expecting the sensor module to still be there and not via the clock spring, but thats just guesswork. I was hoping a matched set from the Touran would be compatible, but I'm missing something. Incorrect coding perhaps?
Perhaps as I still have the Caddy Clocks in and not the Touran ones yet ? Still waiting for a cable to arrive so I can get the Pin numbers and try a IMMO transfer.
Touran parts used...
1k0 959 653 C - Clockspring
1k0 823 248 CQ - Module
1k0 953 519 J - Right Wiper Stalk
1k0 953 513 G - Left Indicator Stalk

Re: Retrofit Cruise and now steering sensor issue
The SWCM (from the Touran doesn’t have/support the steering angle sensor that was plugged into your caddy’s SWCM as the steering angle sensor will be integral to the actual power steering on the subframe.
Check out the Rosstech website to find a suitable module https://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.p ... e_Versions
You’ll most likely need one that supports the steering wheel angle sensor. Find you original one on the list and find a midline or highline one the same software level and LIN version that supports the steering angle sensor.
The Rosstech site also gives the right info for coding in the cruise control including the code to enter to enable cruise control once you’ve coded the module in.
Also… as your van is pre 2006 you’ll need to check your SWCM has the diagnostic wire fitted. Check the black plug on the SWCM, T20, pin 13. If this is missing you’ll need to run a wire from pin T20/13 to your ECU T94/20. The wire if installed should be blue/white.

Re: Retrofit Cruise and now steering sensor issue
Thanks Chris, I kind of figured out most of that through brute force and ignorance.
I had version E of the Module and was trying to replace it with a CQ, which your right, it needed the other method of reading the steering angle. so I've managed to grab a version F for £20, keeping it in the same family and date range, but will have the Cruise and Midline support on the dash.
What does LIN mean or do? Mine never had it and neither will the new one. it sounds like a Network like CAN.
As for the Diagnostic wire, I havn't checked, but as I was getting feedback in VCDS from the stalks and buttons, I assume I have.
Guess I'll soon see once I get the yellow wheel error sorted and see if cruise works or not.
Would having LowLine clocks still in stop it working? I've not fitted the Midline Touran ones in yet, as I need a method of extracting the keys and firmware from the clusters first.

Re: Retrofit Cruise and now steering sensor issue
Hi,
LIN, can’t remember, I’ll have it somewhere
The buttons communicate via the module and the Canbus, the wire is direct to the ECU. VCDS will only check/confirm the cruise buttons are working, the wires separate.
Clocks shouldn’t affect cruise. I started with low line clocks and retrofitted cruise control.

Re: Retrofit Cruise and now steering sensor issue
Still got an error on the Steering Assist and I just can not get it to calibrate.
I can go into group 060 and 1st box says OK, so sensor is being accepted.

Heres a Scan log.

****FIXED****
Anyone having issues with the G85 Sensor not initialising, heres the method I used to finally get it working after a good fortnight of messing around on and off.
After a change of Steering module and a battery disconnect, my errors were.
