Passenger footwell water problem

I have a found an awful lot of water in the Passenger footwell under the matting.

The dark bit of the matting is sodden. And the foam type insulation underneath. I can squeeze it and water pours out like an overloaded sponge.

I can’t find any obvious points where the water would get in? But it’s defiantly wetter towards the front of the van.

Any help much appreciated.

Out with the hosepipe
Could be a floor bung, door window, door seal, windscreen or something missing on the bulkhead.
Best option would probably be take out the carpet and underlay to be able to see any trickles. Also best for drying it out

check under the wiper panel that the drains are clear, on the old passat, superb etc. they became blocked with leaves and dirt and the water fills up and enters the car through the heater box

Definitely check the scuttle panel drains are clear, for that much water in that location it's prime suspect.
Take your air conditioning fan out, see if it looks like it's got wet.

Just make sure the underlay is fully dried out before you put it back in.

Mine was fully soaked but a good few days in the house dried it out nicely

Yeah or it will stink. New carpet form vw is around £80 each side. Underlay isn’t to expensive. You could sound deaden when you do it.

Stripped it all out, shan’t touch it now till it’s fully dry!

Cleaned out the skittle drain, yes it was very full of crap but didn’t get water inside.

Have hosed it and the front in general to see if it’s anything else but nothing so far.

Have found a failed bung? Grommet? Rubber what-da-ya-call-it. Which I will replace but it’s not near the wettest bit of underlay.

Have found this though, doesn’t look like a decent finish whatever it is so no idea if that’s normal.

So I’ve it my hand under the van and can feel a hole directly in front of this. Not sure if this is a missing bung? Feels very circular

Hi, I am the owner of an Italian Caddy Cross and I have the same water infiltration, in my case for European driving on the driver's side. I checked the water drains in the bulkhead under the windshield wipers, dismantled and checked the wheel arch sheet metal without finding areas exposed by putty. Have you solved the problem? Can the water collection tank have joints in the sheet metal where infiltration occours? Thank you all
