You’re welcome… just don’t cut it too short! I also had to drill the new holes at 90 degrees to the original as I wanted the holders to fold up, there’s more details a few pages back, somewhere

Hi mate,
great build, the workmanship on your van and to be fair the rest of this site is astounding
Can’t wait to pick mine up once Darkside have done the belt and pump and start playing in it
Planned to carry MTB’s like you, what did you use for the rubber flooring if you don’t mind me asking?

Hi buddy,
Cheers! I appreciate you reading through my build thread!
The rubber matting was from Ebay, here’s the link to the supplier I bought from https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323855873787
Once cut, I glued it down on top of the plywood and sealed the edges to stop water getting down the sides.

Re: Let the build begin
Great build thread Definitely some dedication there
Been researching the aircon retrofit on and off the last few weeks myself, as it’s now “probably” the last mod I’m going to do . Slightly stuck on the wiring side of things but maybe over thinking it, would you mind giving some insight on what you had to do please?

Let the build begin
Hi buddy, cheers for taking the time to have a read through!
Assuming you have all the bits…
Wiring is pretty straight forward,
2 wires to the solenoid on the compressor/controls from the newly installed relay in the cabin, 2 wires to the low pressure sensor.
PM me your number and email address if you want and I can send some wiring schematics and talk you through it

Re: Let the build begin
So, after a few weeks of noise from the adjustable drop links and reading the recent posts about setting them up “neutral” I took my van to my in-laws, they have a flat, level drive whereas mine is not flat and not level!
Up on axle stands, level across the scuttle, van levelled, and low and behold… lots of tension in the droplinks!
55mm shorter and the noise was gone, well, almost! Found on the test drive that the passenger side drive shaft was rubbing when turning right, back on the axle stands, lengthen the droplinks by 10mm, sorted!
Drive shaft will be replaced soonish once I find a nice engine and gearbox upgrade.

Re: Let the build begin
Went to the scrapyard today, found a nice engine cover along with the brackets and clips to install it, replaced the one on my engine that has a broken clip
And also acquired a replacement dashboard cubbyhole, one that sits flush and doesn’t rattle!
Will have to carry out a little restoration on the lid

Great finds. You have some good scrappys up there. How much was the engine cover?

Re: Let the build begin
Papa Bear yeah, they’re pretty good!
Cover cost me £10 including the two additional engine brackets, the dashboard cubby hole cost me a whopping £8!
And they had 3 Touran’s just in for breaking, seats, centre consoles, bases, aircon, cruise control, bumpers and carpets!
My other local one is temporarily closed whilst the ownership is changed, hopefully it’ll open up again soon.
