As far as build journeys go, this girl has been on quite the ride. Lots to write so I’ll share more over the coming days but so keen to get something up and share my news...

Picked her up today! Image

There’s a few more bits to chuck on this weekend but then I’ll need to recoup funds for a bit. 99 problems and money is each and every one!

I haven’t done any of the rebuild work Image

Wassup Caddy2k, hope you’re all having a good weekend. I have a few more pictures to share of the caddy as she was advertised. Basically the chap I bought from runs a great little garage/body shop not far from me, he specialises in VW but mostly deals with T5-6s but did this one for himself to use for work + dogs.

He picked it up with 4K on the clock and spent ages on the repair with big plans in mind, come the end of the repair he had over spent considerably so scrapped his plans and kept as standard. He also never got around to fitting the Highline front lights despite having them. He’s now eyeing up a T5 so was going to finish up this one and set a few last things straight to sell. Through a mutual connection I got wind of it and the rest is history!

He was going to change the green (company colours) to back to chrome but luckily managed to stop him and get it black. There were also a few scuffs around the van so large parts of it have had a respray which was included in the sale as was the fitting of the Highline lights . Also included was the TDI tuning chip which can take it to 200bhp if wanted.... not brave enough yet.

Sold to me with 13k on the clock.Image

So then… have been keeping this on the DL up to now… what do you think of my caddy camper. Still more to do, but looking pretty cool I think :)

That looks a good Caddy. I am interested to know a little more about the roof top tent - I am currently looking into those for my maxi!

I have been looking at the Columbus (Autohome), and Badlands 90 roof top tents. Have now had a look on the Tentbox website after seeing the photos of yours! There is a lot of choice when it comes to looking at roof top tents!

Yeah there’s load quite hard to know which to go for! I chose this one because it’s the easiest to pack up… didn’t want the hassle every time I need to drive off! Have you looked into the roof bars?

Yeah, I have roof bars already for my roof box, but only rated at 65kg. May need 85kg rated for the roof tent, but am also thinking of putting two lots (4 bars) of the 65kg rated on the roof for the tent, so the load is more evenly spread out. Plus 65kg rated bars are a lot easier to come by that the 85kg ones! I see that Tentbox come with the appropriate rated roof bars.

Yeah I’d imagine so, depends if you’re in it alone I guess. I went with the Thule bars… they say up too 100kg… time will tell! tent box do offer it as an extra but better to get your own I’d say.. they just check which bars are strong enough and compatible then charge extra for their time.
