One week to go until the vans Performance VW feature, to say I’m excited to get my copy would be an understatement.
Below are some photos from when I took the van to Si Gray’s studio on the 5th June. It was very strange seeing the van in there with no reflections, almost looked cartoon like.

Looks like I’m going to have to dig out all the front covers again for a celebratory photo! Did you have the special photo taken as well?!

I had a photo of me looking “special” if that’s what you mean Dan , other than that no I don’t think so.

Definitely an awkward moment .
I’d say I was there for probably around 4-5 hours in total. It’s certainly a strange place to get too, god knows how they get some cars in.

Amazing thread - thanks for posting all the details / pics!
(I think... it may cost me a lot of money in time when I get a van!!)

Great looking van, shiny brown is growing on me a lot!

Finally got round to installing a reverse camera to the van today. I admit, the thought of stripping my interior again has made me put it off for a while now.

To interface with my RNS510 DAB I used an RGB to AV converter (same as shown in the “how to”), along with an aftermarket camera

Camera used:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170-Camera-R ... 635-2958-0
Module used:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Backup-C ... 635-2958-0
How to:
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=46844
Wiring was done pretty much the same as the how to; but with the reverse light signal used as the switch for the filter.
I installed the camera just to the right of the lock barrel so as to get close to the vans centre, I also painted the camera to make the install as discreet as possible. The filter was installed in the rear door and the converter behind the dash.
Coding done in both the park assist and the Nav modules.

Finished

Toffee delights

Post by Lister79 »

It’s finally out…..

Having been a consistent reader of Performance VW magazine for so many years, I’m feeling so proud at the minute.
As a life long car nerd I’d have never have thought that one day my van, that’s used daily to transport my dogs and bikes about, and was built entirely by myself either on the side of the road or driveway, would ever be worthy to be featured in the magazine (or any other magazine for that matter).
Literally life goal achieved.
Thanks as always to those that have helped along the way, with a special mention to Nikki from twinsport, Doc, Darren Fawcett, Matt Glencross, Craig Carr, Optimus Automotive trimmers, CSK race exhausts, Uber tuning UK and also to all the forum members that’s followed the build or commented.
Please excuse the picture of me looking “special”, I did try to get out of it.

This caddy is a true inspiration. I have very much enjoyed reading the thread as it’s progressed. There seems to be no limit to your skills which is slightly annoying! And all this fuelled by your dads bacon sandwiches, well done mate.

Thanks very much all, pleased the thread has provided some enjoyment and inspiration to others.
@FishermansFriend I often think the same when sat in it (usually waiting for the kids)
@Gresley, Bacon sandwiches for the win
