Exhaust flexi broken

Post by gee101a »

Hoping for some help with a solution for the broken flexible piece of exhaust on my 1.6tdi Maxi please.
I've spoken to a mechanic and his suggestion is to cut out the old and weld a new flexible piece in. He said to actually change the front pipe would be a a right pig as the front subframe would need dropping and dpf would need removing to get access.
Could anyone that has done this or knows about it please tell me the best solution.
Thanks

Not sure of the exact routing of the 1.6 exhaust but it sounds like a mechanic that doesn't want to do the job,
You could go to an exhaust specialist and just have them cut out the Flexi and reweld it,
But as it's an exhaust it may just blow out somewhere else , so check out the condition of it before you decide to repair it.

Thanks for the reply, sounds like welding in a new flexi is the way forward
