Fabric advice
I'm looking for a recommendation of what fabric/carpet to use to cut some lining pieces for various cubby holes in my van, particularly the open one in the centre of the dash to stop things sliding around.
Vanstyle do this kit of carpet pieces for the mk3, but mine's a mk4. I'm basically looking for the same thing.
I've seen lots of automotive 4 way stretch carpet but that looks to be softer more flexible stuff. What I'm really after is something stiffer that will hold a shape when cut out. Any suggestions?

Re: Fabric advice
You could always make a cardboard template, transfer that to thin ply and carpet that. I think that may look quite good.

Yeah I think carpet is nicer. It’ll be better for stopping things rattling round too

A hard wearing rubber backed carpet floor tile.... plenty of colours and does the job only few quid
One will do both top dash storage compartments and coin tray on the mk3.

Re: Fabric advice
Like that idea with the carpet tile Gary.8
Is it just resting on the top of the tray?

Yeah just resting on top but I did find the heat from the sun would make it sag in the middle a little bit so add a piece of foam underneath for support .

Re: Fabric advice
That’s a really tidy and neat solution!
