All terrain tyres / inner arches
I’m looking at putting some large all terrain tyres on and have gone to 235/70/16 as per pic although the inner arch is rubbing. My thoughts to overcome this are a lifting kit or to cut out the parts rubbing or even remove the inner arches whilst these are on. Has anyone else done similar?

Do yours clear the inner arch?

Re: All terrain tyres / inner arches
Has anyone put similar tyres on a maxi crew van?
Just got one and will be using for camping/mtb/dogs in Australia.
Not planning on going off road, but something chilunkier than standard that will hold up well to unsealed roads would be good
Cheers

Geoff - what offset do you have on your wheels?
It might be an idea to put spacers on.
You can start with 5 mm spacers and see if it helps.

Not sure of the offset, these are genuine VW alloys off a highline Touran.
I’ve got 5mm spacers on the rears and looking to try 15mm on fronts. If no joy I’ll probably sell them. Don’t really want to lift the van.

I used 205/70R15 Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA+. Leaves about 10mm clearance on the interior of rear arch (closest point).

Fazerfreak - How do you find the accuracy of the speedometer with the 215 65 16 or have you managed to change the coding?
I have a set of AT 215 65 16 from my old Tiguan that would like to re-use if possible but thought that the size difference would be too big.

Re: All terrain tyres / inner arches
Would fitting such oversized tyres have any adverse effect on the suspension, or gearbox or anything else?

Re: All terrain tyres / inner arches
Apparently one should keep the wheel diameter within 7% of the original. From my calculations it wouldn't be possible to use wheels with a diameter of more than 680mm without issues. Keeping within 7% of the original should mitigate having to adjust the speedo (as it is only accurate within 5% anyway).
The wheels I used are 668mm compared to the 637mm of the original. That's 4.7% bigger than original. No issues, didn't adjust anything.
Here is a handy site you can use to experiment with wheel sizes, offsets etc.

What anoneamus said.
Choose your Caddy Year
https://www.wheel-size.com/size/volkswagen/caddy/
e.g. 2018
https://www.wheel-size.com/size/volkswa ... i-eudm-123
Then pick your OEM Size and another for initial comparison.
Then change the second tyre+wheel sizes at your pleasure.
e.g.
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1 ... 0mm&sr=0mm
Plus there is a good thread somewhere ...
