No reason it can’t be real, question is why didn’t they do it to a long wheel base one it would have looked better.

Caddy k2 pick up ( real or photoshopped)

Real! Would look more proportionate on a maxi platform though imo ... had some thoughts about doing this ... maybe one day lol

The mk4 golf conversion is quite popular, I would think on a caddy the sliding door would need replacing with a welded sheet to keep some strength but you could buy a side panel from a country that has the slider on the opposite side if such a thing exists.

Think it would look pretty cool on a maxi, especially if the sliding doors were welded up or replaced with panels, once so one of the bmw mini clubmans converted to a pickup, that looked top.
Still to this day the mk1 caddy pickup is one of my all time favourites, all the proportions were just right and they look absolutely spot on when slammed.
There’s still quite a few nice examples about as well.

@Katiecaddy
Completely agree on both your Maxi point snd especially the Caddy mk1. I’ve just finished painting one of mine in Manilla Green and will have a Porsche Cayenne engine. The other is completely original 1 owner 54k in Cherry redImage

I'm still considering making my 07 1.9 into a twin engine or a rear engine rear wheel drive but the bodywork isn't that great.

@hef that green on the mk1 has to be one of the nicest shades of green, quite period looking also to keep with the age and not too bling. The shell looks in amazing condition. It’s rare to find one with a good bed and tailgate now.
There’s quite a few around us in the northwest all been restored and modded but none have gone to the trouble of replacing the bed panels and they’ve just been painted with the dings in the bed, which kind of defeats the object to me.
We did see a nice example which had been completely restored and the bed had been sprayed with a hard wearing truck liner which you often see in the states.
The stock mk1 looks mint as well :D
