PD130 Conversion

Post by Matt090494 »

Hi All,

New to the forum just want to say Hello, I'm from Leicestershire with a 2007 SWB Caddy.

I have recently converted my '07 Caddy to a BLT PD130 retaining the PD105 turbo and Injectors.

Im going to be upgrading the turbo to a 2060VKLR, pd130 injectors (100% Firad), 4 Bar Map sensor, exhaust system, along with a FMIC and aiming for 300hp 8)

What brake upgrade do people recommend for a '07 caddy?

Thanks

you cant use the fabia gearbox the gearbox mount is completly different
you will need to use the caddy 5sp or get a golf mk4/5 6sp o2m/o2q gearbox
the timing backing plate will also need to be changed and the metal lower engine mount+covers from your current engine will need fitting to it as well
im running a fabia blt engine and more things need changing than using a golf mk4 engine
there is no fabia to golf/caddy gearbox mount commercially availible so unless you can make your own mount then it wont work

Thanks for the reply!

I actually have a Golf 6 speed box so thats all good.

What is the timing backing plate? Maybe I call it something different.

Ahh my question was the crank Sensor seal, is it really that important to use the correct tool?

I could do the swap myself but maybe take it to my local garage for him to do the seal.

TIA

I did use the “proper” tool and it’s fine no leaks and no issues with the sensor

I am thinking of doing this conversion myself, what gearbox linkage do you have to use to fit the 02m 6 speed box to a caddy, is it the complete mk4 linkage or a 6 speed touran linkage

Linkage is the same as the caddy 5 speed.
You might find that some mk4 O2M gearbox selector connections are ball type and some are pin type do it's worth getting the linkage ends with the box from the donor vehicle.

I was trying to finish my own conversion this morning in the poaring ran and now im sat in the airport going away for work for six months so I will be waiting to see how these conversions go.

I tried to adjust the angle of the braided oil feel pipe on the turbo i bought from Darkside as it was kinking on the Exhaust manifold and i rung the banjo bolt off :( It was left hand thread ......

I’m about to undertake this conversion myself and was wondering what driveshafts I need to use?
Reading the linkages are the same will save me a job at least!!

Do the mk5 gti shafts bolt straight in then?

Also you mentioned that you have a S3 intercooler with standard turbo, I’ve bought me a S3 intercooler for my conversion and I was talking to a chap who I was buying parts from and he said that the S3 intercooler was too big? I was thinking about running the standard pd130 turbo at first with the view of upgrading at a later date(so the purchase of the S3 intercooler made sense) what do you think?
