Out with the old in with the new!

Post by M_Fellows »

After spending abit of money on my pre facelift to try and get it to the standard I want and getting it looking how I want I decided I'd much prefer the facelift and I didn't see the point in wasting money on face lifting a sdi so I went and brought a 2012 model.

It's a 2012 with 75,000 miles.

Plans are to fit aircon if possible as it has no aircon unfortunately, satnav but a vw genuine no aftermarket stuff, fit the spotlights and maybe lower it slightly, facelift rear bumper and lastly a nice set of alloys.

So is it much to fit aircon??
Where could I get a facelift rear bumper? Main dealer? If so where can I find the part number.

Not sure of they do it on the Caddy but Alpinair in West London do aftermarket air-con installs on T5's and it's about £1700 fully fitted.

Surely I can buy the parts and just fit it?

Anyway managed to pick some wheels up, a set of scirocco wheels at a good price but now I think it definitely needs lowering.

So does anyone know if the caddy 4 rear bumper fits? And how much they are?

If you want to retrofit A/C , you can of course buy the parts and fit them, it's fairly straightforward if you have all the parts required.
You will need:
1. Airbox with A/C
2. Pump & bracket to suit your engine
3. Control panel
4. Dash loom
5. Engine loom for your engine with A/C
6. Pipework
7. Firewall/bulkhead panel
8. A/C condenser radiator
9. Fan pack for A/C
10. Gas
That's about all off the top of my head, there's maybe a few clips and stuff necessary but the above list covers the big stuff.

The Caddy4 rear bumper will fit, you need to replace the mounting brackets behind the bumper below the rear quarter panel.

Right ok I'll get a list made and priced cheers doc buddy.

I'll have a look into the rear bumper and see how much.

Not much choice on front bumpers other than touran is there? Mine was a standard black textured one which has been colour coded but it's obvious so I'm going to change that.

Actually is there anyone that makes the custom gti/R bumpers? So you can buy them already modified and done so it's just a case of painting and fitting?

Reflex can custom build a GTi or R bumper but be prepared they're expensive as handmade and have a lot of hours in them, but built properly and to very high standard. There are a couple of people building them on fb but I've heard of issues with those. GTE Customs were offering a bumper but not sure what's happened to them.

You might as well go for full climatronic setup. It's a dash out job either way :)

You'll have to talk to Reflex as I don't know the individual price - mine has always been lumped in with a bigger job.

Been looking into a steering wheel and since it will still be used as a work vehicle I don't want anything to fancy so how about this? Will the airbag fit from my 2012 wheel, do I need anything else to make it work and will it need coding.

Oh also will it work with the rns310 satnav

Ye so idiot here just jumped the gun and brought it ...... the airbag don't fit, it's the right shape and so on but the back of the airbag is wrong as if it's too long and obviously a different loom.

Steering wheel part number is 6R0419091 F

So Is there anyone that knows with airbag I need as I can only find the airbag off a polo that is the same airbag as I have.

I would be interested in seeing how you get on with the AC conversion, I bought a donor touran to swap all the parts over but haven't had the time to strip it yet.
Good luck with it all

Sorted the airbag thing out, the previous owner brought a new steering wheel for it so it didn't have the same airbag I needed and that it would of had but he has the old one and it's on.

Will I need a new control module to enable the mfsw to work?

Really happy with how it looks and feels.
