Great looking van! I might be biased but silver looks best!

Hi,
nice Caddy and nice thread!
"Sound deadened and insulated the footwell."
What did you use for insulating the footwell? Does it handle stepping on it? Used the same insulation for the floor in the back (under the plywood)?
Cheers Johan

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
thanks
I just used dodo thermal liner from deadening.co.uk
It's not a stretch material so you won't really be able to shape it. I was overly fussed about covering every inch. Mainly just the flat base. Then the sub box on top. And on the passenger side, I had a bit of carpeted wood sat on top (with all the wiring and charger positioned).
Mainly cos you can't see this area on my van anyway.
Oh and yes this is also what I used at the rear under the ply.

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Thanks! Was that the 6 or 10 mm? What I tried to ask in me previous post was if you can step/stand on the termo liner when carpeted, without damaging/compressing it for ever? Or do you need some plywood on top to handle feet and knees without degrading the insulation? Sorry for my clunky English..

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
ahh I see. I went for the thicker material 10mm.
If it was just in the footwell it should be ok. Not sure with the foil backing on it though, I would prob go for something like the dodo super liner. I have a feeling the foil backing may make some noise etc. when standing on it.

The dreaded rear end knock returned some time ago.
Purchased some Koni adjustable rear shocks as a replacement before xmas. Just got round to fitting today.
Also had an ABS error popup over xmas. So replaced this today too.

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Was sick of the candles for light. Did upgrade to some rather illegal LEDs. But had everyone flashing me as I was blinding them.
Purchased the H7 headlights with DRL.
Slight pain installing, as you have to remove the bumper, although nothing difficult. Also had to cut the loom for the headlight connector and retape. As you don’t have enough length to connect up to the new headlights (the connection is in a different place).

Hi,
How how do the h7 compare to the tea light h4? I've had my eye on these headlights for a while but wasn't sure if they'd be any better.
I've installed some Philips ultinon led's that another forum member kindly gave me which have made a big difference. plus nobody has flashed me once.
thanks Si

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Better than the H4’s that’s for sure. Also like the DRL light. Makes the lights look much better and more modern.
Nice upgrade. But if you can afford it the Xenon’s or some 3rd party projector headlights, they will be much better than the H7’s.
But,I’d say you’re talking around £1,500 these days.

Would love some Xenon's but like you say they are not cheap at all. So much more you could do to the van with £!500.

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Following fitting of the new headlights I fell foul of the dreaded bonnet release cable coming loose and detaching. Not realising until after I closed the bonnet.
I wasn’t aware of this weak point until it happened to me, always the way. You find out afterwards. Never mind.
I tried to gain access from the wheel arch, removing the liner, but I had no chance. Was another week before I had another go as its done nothing but rain.
Anyway, I got at it from underneath and reaching up.
The weak point
Undertray removed
Managed to squeeze my arm up to the cable and give it a pull until the latch popped the bonnet
The fix
Relocated back in it’s place

Please don't shoot me...... but, took my other vehicle out for a spin to a local Cars and Coffee meet at Kirkbride Airfield.
You may even recognise the van next to my Fez. We had a bit of fun driving through, although Lister done nothing but complain about getting a few stone chips
