Das Caddy

Post by Louie123 »

Hello to all,

Reciently picked up my first caddy. I'm not new to forums or tinkering with VWS but I've never had a van before which is crazy as I'm a sparky by day

So priority number 1 is security.

Litterally got straight on eBay and ordered myself some rear window blanks and won an auction on a full steel bulkhead

Then went and ordered some garrison deadlocks.

After alot of faffing around trying to get the genuine vw bulkhead in due to my van being ply lined got the rear window blanks and the barn door deadlock fitted... still need to do the sliding door deadlock but then the fun can begin.

Let's start with day 1.... bought das Caddy, taxed das Caddy, insured das Caddy

Got this :)

Yep aparently taxing your vehicle online is infact NOT immediate

Anyway just aswell they didn't clamp it.. plenty disc cutters at work Image

Next bulkhead... hard work fits well

I shall give it a good clean this weekend and post some pics but it's an 09

Been looking on here and there's plenty of ideas about so hopefully I can get some inspiration but I usually try to keep it different

Once again hi to all and look forward to years of progress

How hard was it to fit the deadlocks as my van came with them fitted but no keys! And called a locksmiths and said would be like £180 top swap barrels.....

Fitting the actual barrels is easy if the door is open although you will need a key to do it yourself as you have to turn the lock slightly to get the cylinder out... cylinder is a single euro type lock

The hard bit is actually measuring up and drilling the outer door skin to accept the cylinder now that's scary!!

Yeah mine is a euro lock cylinders also, but seen some online use mole grips and snap them.
Yeah had to fit a electric hook up in mates camper that's scary big hole.

Correct but you can also get anti snap euro cylinders mate

Worth a look in my opinion

Well no progress on side door until the weekend as caddy has work to do

It'll all happen in the fullness of time, it's worth the wait as in my short time here I've seen no spam, no trolling and plenty of great advice and ideas.
Welcome btw :-D

There certainly is, I'm not much of a modder but have been getting ideas on what spec & extras I wanted for the next van, which should be here in the next 2-3 weeks, can't wait!
